Barrie Summy and Food

Barrie Summy, author, blogger and mother asked me to participate in a pre-4th July round up of useful recipes.
I'm afraid I'm a day late, and my next career will not be in food styling.
However, this yellow rice is always a good contrast to the red, white and blue - it also has the advantage of being the sort of thing that you just add anything to and it tastes fine!

Yellow Rice Salad

White rice, boiled with a teaspoonful of turmeric
cooked peas
chopped parsley and chives
chopped red and green peppers
A spoonful of olive oil
A spoonful of balsemic vinegar
salt and pepper to taste

cook and cool the rice
throw everything else in

  1. This looks delicious! I love that yellow that the tumeric gives. And I especially like your gorgeous blue plate.

  2. Oh my gosh, that looks fantastic. I have never met a dish with tumeric that I didn't love!

    Thank you for joining in!

  3. Why haven't I had rice salad before? This looks delicious and I think you did a lovely job styling your photo. Thanks for sharing!

  4. The rice dish sounds a lot like the Indonesian yellow rice we make except we use coconut milk.

I'm back home now and catching up with everything from blogs to laundry to mail. I'll be posting again as soon as I get all my photos uploaded.

I enjoyed Robert's different perspective on New York.

  5. This look so awesome. You've got me hungry all over again. The photo alone sells the recipe.

  6. Sounds and looks yummy! Great photos on your blog too!

    Happy 4th.

  7. Lovely photo and lovely-looking meal.
