Sports Bar and Wolf Moon

6:30 am and the Wolf Moon - purists will correct me if I'm wrong - hovers in outsize fashion over 23rd Street.

Jake's Sports Saloon where they were showing the Giants games yesterday.
The Giants lost.

  1. Is it called the Wolf Moon because it inspires viewers to bay at it?

Lovely shimmering stuff. Our night sky was thick with cloud, so I might as well enjoy the NYC sky - thanks!

  4. Beautiful! The moon was beautiful last night. Did I take a picture of it nestled among the live oaks and magnolia's. Noooo. Sorry about those Giants.

  6. What a mood we had last night, Elizabeth...and this morning, right before the sunrise, I saw it big and bulging, a bright white against an awakening sky of gradient of silvery blues behind a curtain of tree brunches...
    breathtaking!

  7. I heard it was the largest full moon of the year. I didn't get to see it in person, so I'm glad to see your beautiful photo. Too bad for the giants!

  8. Yes, a lovely shot of the moon - I have yet to see it for real! Rinkly Rimes will be wondering, after all my bragging, about watching out for this particular moon! MM of NY

  12. Yes, it is the Wolf Moon, no less.

It takes clouds to bring character to the moon, and how well they succeed in doing so.

    A very nice picture.

  14. Beautiful shot of the moon. We were having dinner at Reelfoot Lake last night when the moon was rising. It was a huge ball of orange and the refection on the lake was breathtaking! I should have had my camera with me. Kim
