Memorial Day in Tappan.
The little children with their flags are sitting on the edge
of the sidewalk waiting for the excitement to begin.
A family sits outside the deli,
then the Veterans and
the historic fire trucks
cool convertibles
1930's Fords (correct me if I'm wrong!)
not to mention the pipers
the patriotic dog
and the boy scouts
the authentically clad Historical Society members ( I'll forgive the comfy shoes lower right!)
What a day to remember!
Elizabeth, isn't it fun to see a community get itself organized enough to put on a parade?
ReplyDeleteOn a lovely late spring day, I think that you got to see just that!
Your comment about those shoes amused me...yes, I saw them, too. But I also so the sky above the not so tall buildings on the side of the parade route, and the green leafy trees, and felt the relaxed mode of the day.
When we spend our daily lived in the fast pace of New York City, we might lose track of what is going on not that many miles away.
Thank you for the reminder.
xo
Looks like the perfect parade with some of my favorites: plenty of flags, veterans, boy scouts, old cars and kilts.
ReplyDeleteawwwwwwww... What a sweet parade.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the last place I lived in. We had a local parade that was somewhat bigger lots of High School Bands from the area, floats all the good stuff...but had the same feeling as this one. Everyone sat on the sidewalk.
The local joke was half the town is in the parade the other half watches.
I loved it.
cheers, parsnip
What a parade! It was a very interesting and spectacular. Your photos are giving back the mood of the event. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYour photos always make me feel like I was there with you. What wonderful images - so natural.
ReplyDeleteIt is so wonderful to be able to join in, through photographs, with an event in another country. I just love experiencing, albeit second hand, other places in the world and the way in which they live. Besides, I adore vintage cars!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Looks fun and 'wow' for the dog!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful happening is a parade like that. We always have them on Queen's Birthday(30th April) and Liberation Day (5th May) and it creates an atmosphere of friendship and it unites the nation.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful collection of photos!
A great way to organized what you find & shares in your blog...
