Time Over Distance/ Robert Schmid

Robert has updated his website to include his most recent paintings.
People often want to make a narrative out of these rather complex juxtapositions
of images. Rather difficult to explain in words things that are essentially visual ideas.
He is represented by the Sears Peyton Gallery on 11th Avenue.
On the right is a picture of Deniz taken a few weeks ago. Strange how life turns into art.

  1. Love his work... he takes the photos and then paints them?

  2. Makes me think of 'visual' haiku - Photo-like forms in various positions of 5-7-5 syllables, but I know they are the finest of Fine Art paintings. Very interesting. Alas, we looked for your other gallery just yesterday, but will look for the new one soon.

Yes, he has about a billion photos taken all over the place and uses them as the jumping off point for the paintings, often altering various aspects of them.

  5. I love Buster's Blog! and of course I love Robert's work. Have for years. People should support their friends who are artists by purchasing their work. It is always a good investment for many reasons, ans shows respect for someone who is dedicated to creating beauty.

  7. I'm guessing that because previous commenters are talking about your talented family that Robert is a relation? I looked at his website but not too many words there

His work is very interesting, a relation or not

  13. So strange, but I was just having that thought about narratives today. I was listening to a play and heard something similar: we need to "explain," to fill in the gaps.

I will now have to visit Robert's site for a good peruse!

  14. Gosh, I'm awe-struck. Robert's paintings have a kind of intellectual grace....if that makes sense? I keep wanting to go back time and time again to look at them all and to absorb every fascinating detail. I think his work is quite exceptional.

  15. Robert has such a talent! (Hi Robert!)
When I look at his art I always feel as if he freezes and at the same time liquifies images in time-simultaneously making them a snapshot of our reality while the experience of that moment keeps recreating other images in our mind. A sort of continuum...
