Empire Diner

I walk past the Empire Diner every day on the way to the dog run. The other week it was on the cover of the New Yorker. It looks amazingly cool, but the food is only so-so.
You can see from all the reflections that there is construction opposite....
Well, there seems to be construction everywhere.
My main blog is here

  1. We would never expect much from a siner- maybe a grilled cheese- or a fry up , but here a diner is a diner, funky, adequate. I didn't see that New Yorker- it is probably at the library... if I want to go mingle with the sleeping homeless I will go check it out.Our library has become THE place to be seen snoozing among the homeless and insane.

  2. How odd - I was just going through my dashboard and I found this post of yours there but it is not the one that is showing in my sidebar. Blogger seems to be very weird lately

  5. Elizabeth: That photo is so mezmerizing; like the reflection is another reality. I guess the reality of alka seltzer or bromo seltzer should hang about this icon. Wasnt there a movie with this diner? With that little girl from "All I Want For Christmas". Her dad run the diner and the kids were trying to hook up the separated Mom and with Pop and Diner. Reminds me of Edward Hopper All Night Diner,(name and spelling elude me at this time) but this is in the a.m.! All a.m. diner. Can you get breakfast and eggs 24 hrs a day? Still most of NY has that 30's feel. I feel like I stepped back in time most of the time when I visit I LOVE NEW YOUK! New York never sleeps! This I like! Excellent pic!
