More Snow and then Sunshine

I'm really, really hoping these are the last snow pictures I'll bore you with this year.

Here, seen through the grubby windows of the M23 bus, are glum people trudging about as the snow falls. We had 7 inches in total.

and then we pass the Flatiron Building.

I bought bread and salad at Eric Kayser

then missed the bus by Madison Square Park

where I spotted a cheerful red umbrella.  

In the afternoon, I spied a snow plough though the window of Tea & Sympathy

and the Joyce theater though the window of a taxi.

Lo and behold! This morning was sunny - if only 11F...

The sun was so bright window reflections appear confetti-like on opposite walls.

On the roof dead rose leaves are encased in ice.

Looking down all is crisp. I hope the sun melts some of the wretched snow and we can at last dream of spring...

Saturday

In August New York is rather empty of the usual sort of people,

 except ones like the poor crazy lady who lives in the hedge.

It fills up with other people. One day I'd like to go on a bus tour at

night and see everything with new eyes.

Possible Occupations

If I were a firefighter I could spend Saturday morning washing my house. Such fun to have a really powerful hose.

If I were a princess I could lie in my pretty pink bed..............

.... devouring book upon book.

Working at Zaro's bakery would allow me  to keep company with cheery Lady Liberty.

I suppose I could sell shoes, but this wouldn't be my top choice of occupation.

Flowers are more like it.

When I die, I hope it's like Joe Ades who died in his bed at 75. We will miss his colorful banter.

No Theme

I have been rather uninspired this week. So only three rather random items today.
On Sunday we went for our usual bike ride down the Hudson bike path. At Battery Park City they are building all sorts of new ferry docks - so people can commute from Jersey - which you can see in the distance.
The notice says "Yankee(closed) Stadium". Some wag who works on the dock must have snagged it from uptown.
Such a jumble of objects under bright sunshine.



This open air seating area is new and exciting.
It is by the Flat Iron Building at the intersection of 23rd Street, 5th Avenue and Broadway. Basically they have narrowed Broadway and put all these tables and planters. You can look at tourists and traffic and across to Madison Square Park.
There is a stunning view of the Empire State Building.
Well done, New York.


The Blue Water Grill, just by the green market in Union Square is very swanky (I've been there once). Anyway,walking past on the way to buy flowers, I look in and see how luxe and glam it is and hope to go there again.
