More Weather Related - This Misty Morning

We do get all sorts of weather in New York - blizzards, hurricanes, heat waves etc etc. What we rarely get is mist or fog.

Lo and behold, this morning (5th anniversary of the very thrilling plane crash/rescue on the Hudson) there was a mist hovering over the Hudson with the sun fighting to get through. Here from the dog run...

then walking home - and no, there isn't a sepia filter or anything - just what the phone saw.

So I went up to the roof where things were bright and looked toward the river. It reminded me of when I was at school in the midlands of England and looked west from the Malvern Hills over the valley of Bredon. Then I  walked down to Chelsea Piers

where I saw a boat.

and the golf cages swathed in mist.

and reflections sparkling  on a metal hull.

I rather like the old fashioned boats

especially this one!

Skate Park

Down at Chelsea Piers there is an alarming concrete playground for those

equipped with guts and kneepads and elbow pads and helmets

it's great fun to watch too

an adventure altogether

sort of like surfing on a very hard surface

you can even drop off the right angle in the middle......

When I think of all the totally unsuitable stuff we did as kids, this doesn't seem as alarming - in fact it looks like fun and I'm jealous. 

Local

Now the sun has finally come out, we venture outside to discover

  

a shop window smashed on 8th Avenue. 

At first it's hard to work out if the crime scene tape is part of the window display.

The sparrows chirp and preen as the first green shoots burst on 22nd Street.

Two people who don't know one another share a bench at lunch time...

... and down by Chelsea Piers sunny ripples reflect underneath the stern of the boat.
