Sag Harbor Windows

Totally awash in 19th century eye-candy!  Sag Harbor was wonderfully prosperous when most of Long Island was just a giant potato field. So I went round taking pictures of windows and gardens.

Lots of bees on the sedum.

California bright on the porch.

Elegantly antique......

but earlier yet .....the old custom house

on Main Street

Had never realized the subtle scent of Old Man's Beard.

My favorite ( I think) of the little old houses

A particularly lovely window.

  1. Hello Elizabeth:
We can understand completely your being totally enchanted with these houses in Sag Harbor. We have found the architectural detailing very attractive indeed.

In Brighton we too have sash windows, which we love, but one has to love the draughts which roar through them whenever the wind is in a particular direction. No matter, since they are so very pretty!

  2. Thank you for this tour of beautiful old houses in sparkling sunshine.

I love the old glass in those windows, and the pattern of that last white painted fence.

I think some of the houses have what were called English basements, back in my Virginia childhood.

  4. Really lovely! I love the details of old houses and take lots of pictures of windows and doors-there were a lot of good doors in both France and Devon.

  5. What a wonderful place to live or visit. Wavy glass in old windows always adds that dream-like effect and something I miss.

  6. That was a marvelous little tour, thank you! What caught my eye first was the third photo (California bright on the porch)...all the wonky lines, the house leaning one way, the fence another, made me smile.

Love those corner windows further down too, nestled right next to each other.

  14. Those windows are definitely adorable, Elizabeth! The last one caught my attention the most because of its elegance and clear reflection. By the way, I like the alternating color of chairs outside the house. It's both stylish and attractive!
