Post Season Beach

We all know that after Labor Day people go back to school or work or something -- but even so, it was odd to be almost alone on the beach.

The sign warned of some sort of sunken object.

Mr.BeadyEye was there eying our blueberry muffin

and we met an Indian couple enjoying the shore

other than a tanker rather far off

there was almost nobody there at all.

  1. Hello Elizabeth:
How curious that in a city of so many people and the countless hundreds of tourists arriving each day, you found yourself alone on the beach. And, what a sombre mood these photographs capture. There is very much a sense of summer having passed....

After all the summer tourist it was heaven to be able to go down and enjoy the quiet beach again.
    Lovely September beach photos.
I can feel the ocean air in these.

Yet another interesting tidbit I learned - I of course just had to google Rockaway Parkway!

  7. Beautiful photographs. There is nothing better than having the beach to yourself. Here, I am looking forward to having the lake district back now the tourist season is coming to an end.

  8. Elizabeth, I do like these photographs. There is an unusual light throughout them, that seems to add to that particular end of summer feeling.

Will you be returning for more visits as autumn arrives? This beach seems to be a good place for contemplation.

  10. I can think of few better things than an empty beach. Your photos capture that lovely feeling of space and light you find on the out of season shore beautifully.
