Changing Seasons and a Novica Giveaway


Hard to believe it's half way through November already and all sorts of holidays are upon us.


Time to knit more elf hats!


The trees are in the middle of losing their leaves - here a tree by the rail station in Huntington, Long Island where I go for my weekly visit to the grandchildren.


Nearer home Berch has decorated the barber for Thanksgiving....


but a nicotinia flower  survives outside our building.



Pods hang by Pinwheel Park.
 And now out thoughts turn to Christmas... By preference I prefer handmade presents - but I love looking at the shop windows anyway.



ABC Carpet's windows are a special treat - a sort of mingling of the exotic, the shabby-chic and the homey.


 This year they are heavy on a woodland theme


and I'm a sucker for it.


Owls, deer and all the rest...

    I miss livin in Laguna Beach, when the main street (2 small blocks one of them no cars) would decorate all the windows and trees.
    I was hoping you would post some photos of ABC Carpet's windows. This years are amazing. The cards (?) in the first photo are so cool, love them.
    The first photo with elf hat is just perfect . Oh My Goodness, the Grandchildren have groen so much !
    I can't belive it.
    The hat that you made for me, Thank You again. I gave one hat to my Daughter, Granddaughter and kept one. Perfect !

      I went to the Novica shop and ordered a few Christmas gifts.

      But none are as sweet as that wonderful elf hat and the little person wearing it.

    Well Elizabeth, a certain beautiful little elf girl looks adorable in her cosy hat. Didn't the weather turn chilly quickly? Great to see the brave brother of said elf looking very handsome in that photograph, too.

    All your pictures are grand. Fun to see what we saw at ABC. Yes...you captured the charm of those scenes.

    I love the woodland theme for holiday decorations, Elizabeth, especially now that I live in the west. We see many deer here and I still get excited when I see one or a fox or other wild animal.

    The elf hat you made for your little grand daughter is as adorable as she is!
