Wet May

After an absurdly hot late April, it has reverted: rain and more rain.
The woman on the bus in front of me was dressed for the dead of winter.

Puddles reflected newly leafed branches.

Armfuls of lilac at the green market at Union Square and this curiously
retro stall selling somewhat healthy cookies.
Somehow a hint of patchouli about it.

It rained in the evening too, and the taxis swished over wet pavement.
Real English weather.

I rather enjoyed it.

  1. Puddles reflected newly leafed branches, very nice! I just saw the Haiku Festival May 11th. I will have to put that on my calendar. Peace.

  2. Hi Elizabeth,

I love the reflection shot and the last shot. There is something beautiful about city rain/night shots; it is though the rains washes cleanses the city.

We have had our share of rain. I am ready for the sun to come back out.

  3. The leaf reflections are so delicate. Yesterday on my blog I boasted about the glorious Australian Autumn weather. Today it poured!

  8. It's way too hot here and I am wishing it will rain. When I am back from work, most flowers are wilting..so lots of rain will help. Love the reflection..hugs/M

  9. Rain? Clothes for being in rain? You need to send some time here in the Seattle area ...

  10. I couldn't agree with you more...there is some sort of guilty pleasure in enjoying rain when everyone else seems to loathe it so. And I agree, that stand at the farmers market is quite odd! Although I must say I do enjoy their wraps every couple of months...

Oh, Elizabeth, you made me giggle! :-) I had felt rather sorry for you, after all those beautiful, yet rain-soaked images. The puddle, by the way, I just love it!

  16. Other people's rain always looks terribly romantic.

I loved your patchouli comment -- that is the essence of the Elizabeth humour/observation!
