Ghosts/ Happy Halloween

In Florence the ghost of Rembrandt haunts the pavement and people tread on him which is very sad.

The old skull theme is very suitable for a tomb in the floor of S. Croce........

....and in the window of a biscotteria....with all that ectoplasm stuff floating about.....

...just as it does in a painted over portrait on 22nd Street in New York.

Ah! The autumnal peace of a little Halloween lie down behind the leather school with all that Virginia creeper as warm bedding.

Happy Halloween!

Much More Down to Earth

*

After last week's excitement in the sky it's good to look up and see nice puffy clouds.

Or something as simple as a Winesap apple.

The same Winesap apple with mini-gourds.

A Weekend of Children

The Czech Festival on 83rd Street looked like a glimpse into old Europe.

Here the children are waiting to be entertained by the puppet master
--a rather terrifyingly tall man in a coat of many colors.

I really find puppets rather disturbing in general. The only specific character I recognize here is Pinocchio. The doctor looks John Malkovich . I see a devil, a woodsman and a count.
(Also Harry Potter on the lower level.)

Cousins of Czech  (and all sorts of other)  heritage playing.

And Henry, looking rather pensive....

Bike Path, Central Park and Under the Bus Terminal

Looking towards New Jersey. Such elegant decay.

More of the same  --with a tower!

Looking down towards the boating lake in Central Park

This last picture a sort of visual conundrum.
We were waiting for a taxi outside the back door of the bus terminal
and I looked up! A sort of Where's Waldo effect.
