Happy Easter

Easter morning and the trees are in bloom by the SVA Theater

22nd Street looks nice and bright.

Outside the deli all spring is on sale - the lilies

and lilac

and hyacinth.

On 22nd Street the brownstones look red

even the scruffy tree pit looks springlike.

On 8th Avenue the florist will open soon.

At home tulips from Trader Joe's.

Happy Easter!
Happy Spring!

The Miserable Persistence of Winter

Yesterday afternoon was cloudy

then a horrible rainstorm ripped the petals off the tulips and beat down the daffodils.

Overnight it snowed.

The purple ectoplasm is a red coleus indoors.

When I ventured out with the dog this morning, it was 32'F. The pansies were surrounded by ice granules.

Breakfast was baked oatmeal with almonds.

The tulips look cheery at least.

At 11am it is 40'f - but bright....

Gosh, just looked at my Blogger dashboard to discover this is post #900....

Much Improved

I am happy to report that spring might  - finally - be making some tentative advances towards New York.

A rather promising dawn...

a bright noon

buds breaking into bloom.

Anemones remind me of February somehow but I bought some at Union Square.

There were pansies galore

and tulips to lust after.

These were my favorites.

April Fool's A Day Early

On Mondays we often go out to Long Island by train. There was no snow in the city

but by the time we got to New Hyde Park the platforms were covered.

By Westbury it was worse.

Near Cold Spring Harbor it was really very pretty.

This color photo of my son's backyard has no fancy filters though it looks very monochrome.

Yesterday, April 1st was sunny at last.  I think everyone is getting bored of The-Winter-which-never-
Ends....
