This blog has been sort of peaceful and pastoral lately,
so I thought I'd go urban and wild.
(Yesterday afternoon on 23rd Street.)
I hope everyone enjoyed the Haiku Festival as much as Tracy and I did
and I hope I didn't make too many errors in the list.
It didn't rain yesterday for a wonder,
but the clouds were billowing and lowering
and there were some of those 'hand of God' shafts
of light which look so dramatic.
Where's Waldo says: Spot the Empire State Building.
I so enjoy a stormy sky...so much to look at. Hard to believe that's NY!
ReplyDeletewe had some of those same skies here in Long Island Elizabeth! Your compositions are very nice. I love the contrast of sky & lighter color building too.
ReplyDeleteFabulous skies and, yes, I did see the Empire State building way over there to the left.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting the Haiku Festival - it was such fun and I got to 'meet' many very talented blogger poets.
I think I enjoy the drama of a turbulent sky even more than a blue one. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! What dramatic skies against such architecture.
ReplyDeleteYes, nothing like a good storm! Thanks again for hosting the haiku festival - I enjoyed it immensely.
ReplyDeleteNice captures ... Husband calls those Spielberg skies ...
ReplyDeleteFantastic clouds! We take them for granted sometimes don't we?
ReplyDeleteBig atmospheric skies. Can I put in a request for an unusual shot of the Chrysler building? I just love it
ReplyDeleteWow! Dramatic skies indeed and so well captured. I fear those storm clouds are heading to Maine.
ReplyDelete"Lowering" is a much underused term for such skies . . . the sound of the word conveys the mood.
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic shots, only the sound of thunderstorm is missing for full effect.
ReplyDeleteOh, the sky, the sky,
ReplyDeletealways a wonder!
Beautiful swirls,
even the buildings got caught in them. I know where you are hiding the Empire State! ;-)
I photographed our evening sky today. So many little white clouds were up there, grazing and guarding themselves!
Mu husband is flying today so I hope for clear calm skies :-)
ReplyDeleteThe haiku festival was fun...I'm still catching up with everyone.
I decided to stay on the ground with my snapshooting, enjoying the sunny, windy day of Mother's day, with daughter and granddaughter. Looking up to a clear blue sky and cumulus cloud becoming feathery around the edges.
ReplyDeleteYes, let us have more haiku opportunities - that was fun!
Thanks for hosting the haikus festival. It was a real party!
ReplyDeleteI have been running behind in my blogging. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThose photos are super. The colors, the angles, and the compositions, make for such dramatic photos.
Gosh, I have not even been to the puppy blog! Give that puppy a pat on the head for me.
the festival was fun and these skies look just like ours!
ReplyDeleteI can almost hear the Bang Crash!
ReplyDeletePerhaps you should do a Where's Waldo series? That was fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the dramatic clouds. They show off your cityscapes so nicely. We just had dense misty fog all day yesterday . . . very autumnal, except for the riot of flowers everywhere.
Very moody skies in NYC yesterday...sometimes it's fun to see the flip side of a blue & serene sky. :o) I so much enjoyed the haiku festival. And so many others did too, I think. Let's do it again! Happy Day, Elizabeth ((HUGS))
