Wandering about as usual, looking about me.
22nd Street.
Not quite sure whether these were pansies or violas.
They were rather small - but exquisite.
Lily of the valley. When I was a child I would save up to buy my mother
Morny's Lily of the Valley talcum powder.
We both thought it very wonderful.
Reya posted the other day about
GREEN.
Here in a rather formal little garden on 21st Street.
Here a little bird trying to camouflage himself as a stoop railing.
22nd Street.
I think it's great to see all these beautiful sights on a walk in the city. ;-)

Lovely spring walkabout and I love the soft greens of the hostas and the "painted" pansies. Even though some of my "garden" is plastic, what does grow is the hostas and the violets and I love them.
ReplyDeletethe bird does blend doesn't he!
ReplyDeletelovely flowers
What a pretty time of year in the city.
ReplyDeleteWonderful and so fine are the shots. Have been noticing that many more homeowners in the city are creating miniature gardens around their trees. Must be very frustrating for Buster! Janus
ReplyDeleteI love how you see the details, Elizabeth! The camoflauged bird, the pansies and lily of the valley!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day!
I find myself wanting to echo Willow . . . the clear, clean details of these pictures are really fetching. (Let's call that flower a viola; it makes it sound more special.)
ReplyDeleteOh I remember Morny's Lily of the Valley - gone all nostalgic now
ReplyDeleteWhat a great stroll through your city! Beautiful, delightful shadows! And, yes, searching for them does indeed become addictive!!Have a great weekend!

A lovely set of photos Elizabeth! Thanks for the visit to my doggy home picture. I am more a cat person.
ReplyDeleteSweet little viola-pansy flowers! They used to be one of my favourites. You rang a bell with Morny's Lily of the Valley, I am sure my mother used to get it at Christmas, was it in a pale green tin?
ReplyDeleteUsual walk...I don't know, Elizabeth, look like a pretty extraordinary walk to me ;o) Love all the little detail...you have such an eye for everything. Those violets with their happy, smiling faces are so sweet! Hope you are having a great weekend, my friend. Oh, had two more sign up for the festival today! :o) ((HUGS))
ReplyDelete'only connect' is such a great quotation. It applies to so many things, everything in fact.
ReplyDeleteI think they're pansies but not sure so don't quote me on that! Beautiful photos in a beautiful city.
Please come over to my blog and play your part in the investigation into The Mystery of the US Dispatch - a real life mystery!
So beautiful to see the violas. Hostas and lilies of the valley don't do well here where I garden - so nice to see them.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to realize that all these wonderful plants are there in the midst of Manhattan.
You've captured such loveliness on your walk. Thanks for sharing these images with us today.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
I love having a peek at your world...my lillies of the valley are blooming, mmmmm
