Mysterious Night and Wet Morning

A poem for a wet Friday

Acquainted with the Night
by: Robert Frost

I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain -- and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.

I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.

I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,

But not to call me back or say good-bye;
And further still at an unearthly height,
O luminary clock against the sky

Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the night.

This morning was wet.
Had to take the dog out anyway.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

  8. Yup- that's the thing about pups- they force you to go out no matter the weather, the mood, the flu...your night shots are awesome- my camera just won't do that, nightime is not my camera's friend.
HAHA my word verification is "modess" remember those? Back in the day???

  9. And all the way across the continent it's foggy, cloudy, misty here too. No problem. I shall be out anyway, in the garden.

  10. My favorite poet. Lovely images. We've been wet, cold and miserable here after our heat wave. You are reminding me that my dog still needs a walk.

  13. What a dreamy poem -- and photos to go with it. The blur of bicycle and dog (Buster?) is irresistible.

  17. WOw, I am loving the effect that I think you may have put on the first two photos of the streets at night. I like watching you "grow" and how things change with the passing weeks and months.

  19. Even though one picture is often said to be worth a thousand words, the addition of a poem or haiku heightens the experience. A wonderful combination.
