Snow Day

Great excitement - it finally snowed.

I like snow so much I got up in the night to see if it had started...

Early in the morning a person is walking a dog.

Then I had to walk Buster  - who was much more cheerful than this picture looks.

Not too many people out on 9th Avenue at 8am.

But a work crew were shoveling already.

A man on a bicycle crossing 8th Avenue - rather risky, I imagine.

Back indoors I look west.

Then I decide to go up onto the roof to take super-duper pictures of the entire city.... except it is snowing on the entire city and there isn't a thing to see...Oh well....

Losing Interest Rapidly...

This morning it was 1F with a windchill factor of minus 15...

People trudge around looking miserable.

A dull picture of cars in the snow...

Last weeks flowers are falling apart.

Some blue berries...

What it looked like at four in the morning the other day...

and while walking the dog.

Bicycles huddle together for warmth...

Better to bundle up and go incognito.

Going hatless is rather silly.

On Long Island it looks rather picturesque

and bitterly sunny.

No possibility of playing outside...

So a collaborative rendering of New York City with a man who went down a ladder and discovered all sorts of junk under The Empire State Building... and the Lego store on a day when it was raining.

Back home the Trader Joe's lavender has the beginnings of flowers

but the dog has given up in despair...

Winter Continues Unabated...

So where did we leave off in this sad saga of unending cold?
Ah yes, with the children having fun.
So... the snow is now messy and clumpy...

Pat, the crossing guard - the one with the dog treats - is all bundled up.

They are filming at the Chelsea Square Diner - the one I'm standing outside in the post above. The cross walks are somewhat shoveled.

The 'wolf moon' visible at 2:15 in the afternoon - does that portend something?

Buster likes the snow.

It's something to eat  - and he likes eating.

This morning it is 13 degrees F with a windchill of who knows what.

Vapor billows from the drains in scenic fashion.

It's better to walk home briskly

to contemplate the fruit some more

and dream of warm days ahead.

PS. 4 -8 inches of snow predicted for tomorrow night!

It's Getting to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

Even the parking garage booth is getting into the spirit of things.

And the girls at Billy's Bakery are extra busy.

Can anyone tell me what this little bird, spied from my window, is?

Dogs like snow, as I do....

Rat, Cat, Bird, Child etc.

A rat in the Meatpacking District.
Such beady eyes.

A cat who may or may not get adopted.
ASPCA van on 23rd St.

A present from Turkey. Blue indeed.

More blue. High Line.
Wednesday evening.

Buster usually lives in his own blog.
Here he makes a celebrity guest appearance.

Raining and Gray

Rain and the item above prevent anything sensible.
ps. His foster mother just told me that two of his siblings are still available....
Contact PetRescue and mention Sophie's Pups.
Not a decision to be taken lightly however.

Festivity Fatigue

A good time was had by all.

However, Joba's antlers no longer light up.

The paper hats have been crumpled up and thrown away along with the little pieces of paper with jokes and Trivia on.
Example of Joke so old Methusalah might have laughed at it:
 Q. Why do bakers work so hard?
(Because they need the dough.)
Trivia. Q. Name four of the seven Von Trapp children from The Sound of Music.
Answer at the end of the post for those with time to waste pondering this.

A bouncy ball from the crackers has ended up with the rest of the tangerines.
After Lindt truffles and Toblerone, their simplicity seems rather attractive.

Two Good Things

Impossible to find anything bad to say about bicycles.
Eco-friendly, good for your health.
Blah blah.
This one is more than utilitarian; it is stylish.

This dog is also stylish. I'm not quite sure what it is exactly.
I think one of the new hybrid poodle- somethings who have hair instead of fur.
He/she was sitting on the window sill at either doggy day-care or the dog beauty salon looking about him or her.

I liked him.
Then he (I'll call him/her/it he for the purposes of brevity) stood up so I could get another picture.
Then a very polite young woman came out and asked me not to take pictures.
Perhaps she thought I was planning to dognap him.
Don't think I wasn't tempted.
