Snow Day

Great excitement - it finally snowed.

I like snow so much I got up in the night to see if it had started...

Early in the morning a person is walking a dog.

Then I had to walk Buster  - who was much more cheerful than this picture looks.

Not too many people out on 9th Avenue at 8am.

But a work crew were shoveling already.

A man on a bicycle crossing 8th Avenue - rather risky, I imagine.

Back indoors I look west.

Then I decide to go up onto the roof to take super-duper pictures of the entire city.... except it is snowing on the entire city and there isn't a thing to see...Oh well....

Blue Skies

Everything seems extra bright.

New blossoms on the trees, a new building on the corner of 25th Street and 9th Avenue
everything growing and growing apace. What energy!

Eggy

It is the season for things eggy and chickeny.
Here in the  retro window of a traditional butcher on 9th Avenue.

the same. But what on earth is "Milk Bank Boost"?

The ladybug eggs are a new one on me. (9th Avenue too).

On 8th Avenue the plaid pants and the plastic grass and the much-too-white eggs are awful.
The chickens have a certain charm.
My main blog is now here .

Windows on 9th Avenue

Yesterday afternoon, walking along 9th Avenue....

I admired all the shop windows...

decorated for the season.
This is the Barking Zoo where they have all sorts of toys for pets.

The florist's wreaths are very lovely...

 and the amyrillisses  astound.

Shadow Shot Sunday/Apple Store

Shadow Shot Sunday again.
Go here for more participants.

Friday lunch time at the Apple Store on 14th Street.
R. was looking at techie stuff.
I was transfixed, as ever, by the staircase.

One thing I like about Apple is that all the young people who work there are so keen on everything.
They wear orange and turquoise T-shirts but do not treat a technophobe like me as the idiot I am.

A vendor has set up a stall selling jewelry outside the door. What are we now? Soho light?

Street Signs

Always good advice, I suppose.

The building this sign used to be afixed to is gone. I was really upset.
There used to be a sort of dingy staircase leading to some sort of office.
Just like something in a Paul Auster story..........

But I'm glad the sign was saved.
It should go next my "Expert" sign from Morocco.

This last is an example of New York black humor.
Odd that the Twin Towers site is now a tourist attraction.
I am often asked the way to ground zero and it always makes me sad.
