Happy Easter

Spring has pretty much sprung around here.

I have begun planting the tree pits in front of the building: pansies, chrysanths left over from fall, salvia, a lonely wallflower and the requisite soda can and random bit of paper in the gutter.

Men cleaning up metal dividers and trees in bloom.

Hanging out at the dog run...

apple blossom in the community garden on 24th Street

and cherry blossom outside it.

Wordsworth's lonely little cloud hovering over the Hudson with the High Line in the middle distance.

Cookies at Sarabeth's in the Chelsea Market

and gelato.....yum

fruit at home like we had at Susie's in Marrakesh (note the sprinkling of mint)

Happy Easter!

A Bit Horticultural

A warm, sunny afternoon at last. We walk down 21st Street.

I like wandering about imagining what it would be like to live in such and such house.
This is one I feel I would be quite happy in. I imagine there is a garden behind the house too.

Kerria is rather a jolly bush --the same color as a school bus. It reminds me of English gardens.

A forget-me-not with a variegated leaf amidst the spent crocus leaves

Ah! The subtlety of the Lenten Rose.

A wonderful display of Easter flowers at the much-too-expensive shop on the corner of 9th Avenue.

Eggy

It is the season for things eggy and chickeny.
Here in the  retro window of a traditional butcher on 9th Avenue.

the same. But what on earth is "Milk Bank Boost"?

The ladybug eggs are a new one on me. (9th Avenue too).

On 8th Avenue the plaid pants and the plastic grass and the much-too-white eggs are awful.
The chickens have a certain charm.
My main blog is now here .

A Visit to Long Island

The moon was full and visible through the trees which towered over the harbor.
It was so lovely and strange we sat on the porch in thick coats and admired it.

I always associate this little painting with my friend C's house.
The lily is for Easter.
The gardening hat for a pursuit we both enjoy and the books...............

How the jewels glitter on the chandelier as it catches the light and C. hides in the background.
She is holding a cup of tea as she often does, as we often do.

In the hall, by the front door, the season is celebrated.
