Snapshots from Tuesday

The view from my window of winter trees and snow -- always reminds me of Breughel and the Christmas cards my parents sent in the 1950's.

How bright and moderne the Empire State Building looks in the afternoon sun.

Samson and Lily are well outfitted for the season, but Hodges' own coat is enough.

The spire of Holy Apostles church on 9th Avenue and a distant view of the Hudson. Something seems to be on fire on the right.

Harry, a friend's cat, does not want Buster to get hold of his ginger root. No way!

I'm so sad that Tessa Edwards has died. Go here for more thoughts on this splendid friend.

Rat, Cat, Bird, Child etc.

A rat in the Meatpacking District.
Such beady eyes.

A cat who may or may not get adopted.
ASPCA van on 23rd St.

A present from Turkey. Blue indeed.

More blue. High Line.
Wednesday evening.

Buster usually lives in his own blog.
Here he makes a celebrity guest appearance.

Thinking Black and White and Chelsea

A cat entertainment system.(Pet Store 23rd St.)
This can be replicated (free) at home by turning on the faucet just a little bit.
 Provides hours of harmless enjoyment.

Black and white windows. Always elegant. 22nd St.

See above.

Posh and Becks looking very buff on 10th Avenue.

Magnolia on 22nd Street.

Elephant

Elephant and Castle Tube Station where they have taken the posters down to prepare for new ones. It would be three in the morning if I were still in New York.

In the afternoon we go to Dulwich picture Gallery and look at Dutch paintings after taking the dog for a walk round the park. Sunny with wild blackberries and michaelmas daisies.

Blue and pink in my cousin's little back garden in Balham........

............where Tattie and Cleo enjoy the bright morning sun.

8th & 9th and a Book Recommendation

American Apparel on 8th Avenue - a glittery skirt for a youthful figure.

Some hats on sale at the shoe repair shop.

Some sort of error made the sky yellow which is fun. I'm sure the hip-hop guy in his cool red sweat suit would agree.

9th Avenue is altogether more sedate.
A bench to sit on outside a cup cake shop.

A real cat in the vet's window is calm and collected while the poster dog looks frantic. Good summaries of catness and dogness

Book Recommendation:
this book will save your life by a.m.homes
A wonderful, warm-hearted, spot- on critique of contemporary society. Set mostly in LA. Very funny, but touching too.
