More red and stripes on the escalator at 54th Street. We are
lucky Claudia works for a museum and we can bypass
the horrible long lines with a gazillion, poor, patient people
waiting to get in. I feel a bit guilty but even so.......
Such angles and vistas. We go to the Ensor show which is quirky
and batty and made me think of the work of David Shrigley which
I love in its utter insanity. Ensor lived in his parents' attic for
many, many years...........hm..............
Anyway, any good museum visit brings on a desire for snacks,
so we went to one of their cafes high up overlooking the garden
where the croissant was perfect: crispy outside and light inside.
I adore the MOMA
ReplyDeletegreat cpatures as always
I love the way you catch and convey motion
We skipped the MOMA last time we were in NYC, but you're blog now makes me miss that we hadn't gone there.
ReplyDeleteAnd: We ALWAYS visit a museum's cafe, it's essential:-)
The shots looking down/around are truly wonderful Elizabeth ..
ReplyDeleteYour abstracts, photos 3 and 4, are terrific.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I rarely go to the busier ones - queues. How did you get in? secret entrance, password, look out for the man with the yellow parakeet?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds lovely and any well-stocked cafe is good for the day.

Fantastic shots of the MOMA - they take my breath away! I took several of that wonderful interior, but none a faction as powerful as these.
ReplyDeleteAnd your daughter! I ooh and aahed my way through her simply stunning collection in bug-eyed admiration. The talent genes have certainly not skipped a generation here - on the contrary.
I'm so envious. And you get to skip the queues? Lucky you! Nice shots, as always. :^)
ReplyDeleteMMMmmmoMA! And you are correct, it is very important to stop for snacks (tea is best, yes?) whilst on a museum jaunt ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as always, Elizabeth.
David Shrigley hilarious disturbing in a good-ish way- I would love to walk through his brain for about 3 minutes!
ReplyDeleteEnvious of your rich life in cultural center of the universe!
thanks for the wonderful photos always...
Cheers!
I live MOMA too! I linked to you today Miss Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteI only went to Moma for a few hours one afternoon and did not want to leave. I'm jealous that it is so near you (in a nice way of course :)
ReplyDeleteARTSHOT! the image going down the entrance to the subway is amazing! couldn't have staged it better!
ReplyDeleteClaudia? What an intersting variant on Cloudia....LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat post (as per usual ;-)
Aloha!
Comfort Spiral
Looks like a wonderful day! And that croissant does look perfect!
ReplyDeletexo
I love the MOMA especially the shop!
ReplyDeleteMoMA had been one of my favorite monthly weekend day visits during my time in NY.. Lucky you and Claudia... I still can't get over not being able to witness Van Gogh's Colors of the Night after trying on two consecutive weekends.
ReplyDeleteI love the vertiginous pictures of the MOMA building. You always find the good angles!
ReplyDeleteA perfect croissant is to be admired as well.
I love buildings like that. I visited the 'new' Seattle Public Library for just the reason - it's architectural reputation. It was certainly interesting (if a little institutional and 'out there' for my taste).
ReplyDeleteAnd nothing beats a good croissant. :-)
