Standing at the water's edge...my idea of bliss too! You had a lovely day at the seaside, Elizabeth...beautiful photo that breathe summertime. Was Buster with you? :o) Happy Day ((HUGS))
That is a typical beach memory, though- watching parents juggle children and coolers, umbrellas and blankets - did a little juggling myself, in my time. You're right. Less is more.
as a teenager in CA, all I needed was a towel and coca butter, as a mom I needed to carry food and blankets and one very old beach chair to keep watch, now I carry nothing, I just walk and when I need to sit, a beach log or sand seem to do just fine :)
I love the wonderful perspective of these photos -- and the big block of blue sky, with blotches of color (all of them the "right" ones). You have captured one of the best bits of summer, SURELY!
Oh, the luggage that is taken! De Ja Vu! The cloud formation is perfect - a windless day, perhaps.... enjoyed looking at a familiar scene through a different lens!
Pictures with a sky so wide open, Winslow Homer would have loved painting them on one of his giant canvasses! Immensely beautiful images, Elizabeth! :-)
Beautiful! The top picture reminds me of one of the typical seascapes Eugene Boudin painted; just replace modern attire with hooped skirts and parasols, and children in naval cadet-like swimwear.

ReplyDeleteLugging everything to the shore....I'd much rather just walk along the coastline.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos

ReplyDeleteLugging stuff? That's want dune buggies are for! The only 'problem' with beaches is all that sand!!
ReplyDeleteEven the clouds arranged themselves artfully, close to the horizon. A perfect day. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI could feel the breeze off the ocean .. what fun photos!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see the shore! Thank you.

These photographs reminded me of Boudin's paintings Elizabeth - I think it is because things are at a distance. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI can hear the gulls crying overhead, and the soft roar of the sea, the children's laughter and the flap of the flags in the wind. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat - no shots of your feet paddling?

I recall shlepping so much stuff to the beach with young kids. It was an effort. Yes, so much better to just stand at the water's edge.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I see you at the other side (of the world ;-)
