Night Scenes

Looking down from the High Line at Hogs and Heifers.

And at picnic tables that look like Legos.

Nearer home Dallas Barbecue's lights paint the sidewalk pink.

Who would have figured on cupcakes' popularity at 9:30 at night?

The moon and a plane overhead.

  3. Your Dallas Barbeque shot reminds me of Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks".

  7. Love the night feel you are creating with these shots, Elizabeth. I hope the visit with your daughter went well. I also was thinking of daughters and I wrote a post this week about my own daughter's influence on me...come over a read my poems if you can.

The last capture is perplexing...and I looked at it extra long...I had to read about the plane to be able to see what the other light in the sky was...curious...I think the angle, space and building off center are effective. <3

  9. "Nighthawks" was the first thing to come to mind for me as well. Great night shots. I am wondering if the high line is gated at night. Might be a great place to sleep out in a a bag!

  17. I like the moon shot. That has to be a helecopter, surely, no other 'plane is allowed? It is not easy finding a good moon shot in the city - wonderful.

  18. I can imagine the sounds that you heard that night, too. I'm trying to imagine what's diagonal from Hogs and Heifers? A restaurant? A gallery?

  19. Speaking of Legos and New York...you've most likely already seen this:

I really like the photo of the moon, plane, clouds and building.
    Cheers!

  20. your photos are wonderful. So atmospheric.
There is never a bad time for cupcakes in my opinion.
It is difficult to get cakes later in the evening anywhere in the UK - its just not the culture here yet sadly.
