Things to Do

Buy cup cakes from a truck on 5th Avenue.

Line up for a casting call on 24th Street.

Feel anxious that one might not be chosen.

Check the cell phone in Chelsea Market while looking an
awful lot like a Duane Hansen sculpture.

Wash hands on the High Line.

And, of course, take photographs of it all.

  1. The thing that I should do: sit in my garden and enjoy the rare heat (instead of sitting inside at my computer).

I'm glad that I'm not a young actor -- how heartbreaking.

I'm thoroughly enjoying seeing NYC in its summer clothes.

  3. These are fun...you have got to love NYC Cupcake Truck and all.
Do you ask permission to post photos of people?...I am always worried about whether I should get permission or not...on top of that I am shy :)
    I love people photos.

  4. I'll take one of those cupcakes!

My daughter's in NY for dozens of auditions a year. I don't know how she does it. It's tough.

  5. Very cool!

Did you notice the girl with the cute, bright-colored, short dress and yellow shoes, standing on line. She certainly stands out. I wonder if she was picked. What were they auditioning for?

  6. I almost always ask permission to photograph people.
The casting call people obviously were pro's at it!
Yes, I loved the yellow shoes and cool dress.
At first seeing all these people outside a church at lunch time I thought
    wedding
    funeral?
This was the first cup-cake truck I've ever seen.
I did not give in to temptation.

  9. Most of them are fun summertime activities. Except the casting call.

Mug Monday was fun to do. Are there plans to continue it every Monday?

  12. Wow. That woman really does look like a Duane Hanson sculpture. Are you sure she was real?

Beautiful portrait of the girl washing her hands.

As always I am in awe of camera friendly New Yorkers.

  18. There's something about the last photo, "Mexican visitors on 22nd Street" that is both interesting and disturbing.

It conjures up the image of everyone in the world having a digital camera and everyone is taking pictures of each other, the detritus of the world and everything else within line of sight. Sort of Kodak Moments Gone Nuts.
