For other cool ShadowShots go to Heyharriet.
The weather in New York this so called summer has been quite batty.
Here is an example. Friday evening about seven, all wet, billowy and thundery.
After the storm has cleared just after eight,
At eight thirty, the sky over the Empire State Building
is all cotton ball puffy pink.
(None of the colors have been manipulated at all.)
The third pic is just great!
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with Sabrina! Love your cotton ball puffy pink photo! It makes the Empire State Building look very cozy all snuggled up against that soft sky :)
ReplyDeleteThe pink is heavenly!
ReplyDeleteyikes! it's a moment to to moment lifestyle for sure - I love the second pic - that blast of light after a heavy rain and the couple walking on the left!
ReplyDeleteIncredible colours Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteGood thing the crappy weather at least provides the consolation of great photo ops! Gorgeous stuff, Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteWow ... I like the cotton puff one.
ReplyDeleteLowering storm clouds
ReplyDeletehuddle over the city—
rain is on the way.
Fantastic non-manipulated colors, I like the set as a continuum . ........
ReplyDeletedramatic colors!

I missed the jagged lightening by a click as the thunderstorm started! Great, familiar looking shots. The sun really is as golden on the buildings as seen and captured!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous shots! And the third one is really breathtaking! Gorgeous colors!
ReplyDeletewow!!!... the second and third shots are awesome!!
ReplyDeleteWow what amazing skies! That third one looks positively apocalyptic! We have had hot ans stormy weather and it is supposed to be even hotter this week.
ReplyDeleteIt has been insane weather-wise this 'summer' so far .. lets hope it gets better and not just hotter
ReplyDeleteAmazing how a sky can change from dark grey into puffy pink, which is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe sky on friday night was simply amazing! I took a picture too but by the time I rushed to get my camera and went to the rooftop, the pink cotton balls had turned to purple :)

Moody weather, yet beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteamazing isn't it!!
ReplyDeletewe got a lovely sunset Friday as well, but then the storm came back
Know what you mean. A different sort of spring/summer for the whole upper U.S. I think. Hope you get some consistent sun soon.
ReplyDeleteWow Elizabeth, it's a good thing that you posted that note about the colors. I thought you had changed them-to great effect...they are incredible shots, especially the last two. So intense. BTW I have given you an award. Come over and read my post about a film (The Astronaut Farmer) and the importance of dreaming...You are such a warm person and skilled photographer...modest too. :-) <3
ReplyDeletewe had the same series of weather "events" here on Long Island Friday night. I am hoping this marks a turning point for more summery weather now.
ReplyDeletelove those bright clouds Elizabeth.
Moody weather, great shots, amazing light and colour!
ReplyDeleteThat pink fairy floss sky is STUNNING--what a sight! Such sky contrasts in this post...amazing... Happy Day, Elizabeth ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteThat's one roiling sky, Elizabeth. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteLove the pink mammary clouds. Bumps like that mean big trouble up in the troposphere. Glad you were at ground level.
Elizabeth, I am so glad that you had your camera at the ready for that pink cotton ball sky. When I was walking home from the subway that evening, there were many folks on the sidewalks of my block with cameras pointed to the sky.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I was tired and cranky after a long day, and did not have my camera with me. Still ... just the sight of that sky cheered me instantly.
xo
