Tourist Boom

Walking along 7th Avenue near Penn Station the other day
I was struck by the number of buses disgorging visitors.

New York nowadays is a pretty exciting place to be.

You can go for even more bus tours when you get here
and see all the sights and go shopping in Macy's.

No shortage of street snacks....

or cool people to look at.

At sunset the pink light throws long shadows.
23rd Street and 11th Avenue.

  1. Love the last pic! Incredible! I have only had the pleasure of seeing the inside of JFK airport - have not spent time in New York City. You are inspiring me to travel there!

  4. Now I'm homesick for NYC again, although I've never been there, but have visited very often.

  6. The buses really do "disgorge" the tourists, don't they? I'm thinking you New Yorkers get a higher quality of tourist than DC. Ours are always puffy and red faced, all dressed in the same t-shirt. Glazed over and cranky ... god ...

OK I'm not supposed to complain about the tourists. It's just hard to share the nation's capital with the rest of the nation.

  7. Oh you should see the HUGE busloads of people who are dropped off here at Zabars to shop and congest the streets up here .. oh my, did I sound less then welcoming ...

  8. Did the tour group thing a couple of times. Had fun. Sort of. Think traveling in herds is for cattle. Maybe I'll just armchair travel with Elizabeth as my guide. Yeah, I like that! Love those sunset shadows.

  11. I feel very positive about all the tourists and enjoy them..... because there are all sorts of quiet places too if one feels like being peaceful.

  12. My nephew is in New York today on his senior class trip. He might have been on one of those buses disgorging itself.

  15. One thing I do miss on the streets of New York are the chestnuts...they were so good. Haven't had one in years. I need to be one of those people being expelled from one of the buses!

  16. The weather has been beautiful this week, hasn't it? I like how New York comes alive particularly in the spring and early summer. I can just imagine the tinkling of glasses on the cafe patios. So when are we getting together this month?
