New York People and a Dog

One thing for sure is that there a lot of people in New York - doing a variety of things..........
These people are at the 34th Street entrance to Penn Station.

They like going to to Madison Square Park, even if they have to wait in line for hot dogs.

It's much more fun to go to Pinwheel Park in Penn South where the sprinkler can cool you off.

One minute - one long minute - to wait before Macy's opens its doors on 34th Street. A wonderful shop which always has a billion tourists in it. Remember if you're from out of town to get your visitor's pass which gets you 11% off everything.

In New York you can do almost anything you want. On Gay Pride Day you can dress up and have your photo taken.

New Yorkers like to eat out at places great and small.
Here an elegant lunch at Eleven Madison Park where everything is so low key and restrained, and a man comes and puts the salt in one half of the little dish and the pepper in another part. The first time I saw that.

Or they go to Soho and have a meal with their family. Here the buildings have high ceilings and tall windows because they once used for as manufacturing spaces. One thing I've noticed is that in the past you were given as much bread as you wanted with a meal. Now they are very stingy with it and you only get two tiny pieces. (I'm not surprised with bread at $4.50 a loaf.)

This is the little girl from Shadow Shot Sunday. She is looking under a tree in Madison Square Park.
Perhaps there is something wonderful and secret there.

This character was waiting for his owner to buy vegetables at Union Square Green Market.
He seemed to have a smile on his face. I took his picture because he represents my idea of the ideal dog: a sort of a mutt with a little bit of terrier and maybe a passing glance at a lab.
HAPPY 4th of JULY WHEREVER YOU ARE!

  1. Oh...New York! What a great place to people watch. The Gay Pride fellow reminds me of the former mayor of the small town we just moved from...(I kid you not).

Loved the white top (dress) in the salt/pepper photo. Very cute.

I agree with you about the dog...the perfect mix!

  13. No more free bread at the restaurant?!?!? Oh the horror!

Where is this restaurant and what is its name?

  14. Macy's in my town is a rather mundane experience...just another store in the mall, with Dillards, Penney's and Sears.

I think I need to see the NYC Macy; it must do something to kick it up a notch!

I'll be watching for bread rationing.
