Zeitgeist (the spirit of the age) or SHOPPING

This is for Mrs.Nesbitt's ABC Wednesday.
This first picture is Macy's on 34th Street.
I went there yesterday to buy a swimsuit on sale.
Not a happy trip though the price was good. Blue and white polka dots.
When it's a lost cause, one might as well have fun.

File under zeitgeist "the spirit of the age" a German word.
The current obsessions seem to be celebrities and shopping - both of which I claim to despise and know about anyway.
Yes, I do buy things and yes, I do know the names of the Brangelina twins. Hmm.......

The second two pictures are of the interior of the Apple store on the corner of 14th Street and 9th Avenue.
Lots of people were lined up to buy iphones.
I'm sure these are a wonderful invention and perhaps, in due course of years, I'll get one.
At the moment I do not have a cell/mobile phone. Hooray!

The Apple building is beautifully renovated and the young staff uniformly energetic and engaging.
My laptop's keyboard's letters - particularly 'i' and 'e' have vanished from overuse.
Temptation abounds.........

  1. Nice series Elizabeth, and a great Z for zeitgeist...

--And this has been educational for me, because I found about the word zeitgeist from something I once read about the horrors of the Nazi-German era, so I've always mistakenly thought it meant something about bad and evil -- but no, I was wrong...   (See, I can still learn things at age 60, pushing 61)

  2. That sure is an impressive looking Apple store. Love the staircase!

I don't know the names of the Brangelina twins. I'm afraid I've not even heard of the Brangelina twins! I do however own a mobile phone. As much as I despise having to have one...

  3. Oh you are a very brave soul Elizabeth!!!
Swimsuit shopping and having fun concurrently!! Wait? Isn't that an oxymoron? You probably got an itsy~bitsy teeny one. Am I right?? ;-)

  4. I don't know the twin's names, but I do know of their existence, you are one up on me there. Polka dots are always in fashion! And I love my MacBook, I had PC IBM ThinkPad before, this is 10,000 times better! Get a new Laptop before a cell phone. (my son has my cellphone, but has express instructions not to use it if there is a landline, there is a group of brain surgeons who feel there will be a brain tumor epidemic in ten years from cell use....)

  5. Classy Apple store! My daughter was in NY today for an audition. It made me think of you.

  6. Unique post for today! Enjoyed doing a bit of shopping and sightseeing with you! :) And thanks for not looking when I was trying on that swimsuit. *hah*

  7. Amazing what we discover! LOL!
I love shopping, more rumaging around the charity shops as I love a bargain!

  8. Interesting shop shots! Would someone really walk up those stairs? No way could i do that! I would just look at them as an artwork!

  9. Elizabeth - you are amazing! - love this post - yes I went swimsuit shopping not long ago as well...

    one turquoise

    one with horizontal stripes

    yes - brave of me

    very brave (or...)

    xox - eb.

I look forward to hearing from you!
