This is what it actually looks like from the bus on a wet day. Wednesday was so very wet my boots were soaked through.
The bus was rather cosy...
...but the poor mother in the statue in Union Square must have been feeling pretty chilly.
Also the apple which had been knocked off the apple cart and was sitting in a puddle.
In the evening the ESB was swathed in mist and the top kept coming and going.
Way to make use of a wet day for some cool shots! We had freezing rain here on Wednesday. Gotta love an ice storm! :(
ReplyDeleteWet, yes. But the photos are lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely pics..really captures the atmosphere of NYC.Love the Empire state one!
ReplyDeleteJas
I love the pictures! Especially the first one - it looks like a modern day Pizzaro.
ReplyDeleteOnce again amazing photos, you just keep capturing more and more!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt rains in New York too? Always looks sunny in the holiday pictures.
ReplyDeleteLovely picture of the Empire State Building. Another dreary winter day in New York...
ReplyDeleteDo you mean your Uggs were soaked through!? I shot the ESB that day (from my tenth floor window) but not with such good results...congratulations! MM of NYC
ReplyDeleteYou know, the photographs you take are scrumptuous and evocative, but I have to say, that apple sitting alone in the puddle is moving in an odd way. you really captured something!
ReplyDeleteIt is rain also in Tokyo.
ReplyDeleteThe rain became into the snow at a moment and back into the rain soon.
It's first snowing in this season.
wonderful soggy day photos. my favorites are the apple and the ESB. what a beautiful misty photo of that building...makes me want to watch sleepless in seattle.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with Chris - the apple has a certain pathos. Must be the bold colour on grey which evokes it. Bit reminiscent of that wonderful film 'Le Ballon Rouge'. More wonderful photos, Elizabeth...keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeletei love that cosy-in-the-bus feeling...in sever weather i prefer the bus to the subway - i like to see what's going on and coming down...
ReplyDeleteDid you gave your poor feet a nice hot soaking bath? It is frosty cold here and the whole world is gray.
ReplyDeleteI love the fog swirling around the top of the Empire State Building. Cool pics, (in both senses of the word).
Elizabeth, I especially love the first photograph. You captured the mood - I felt like I was there. Kim
ReplyDeleteI actually really like riding the bus - where we live now, it's not really viable - I always liked the idea that I could just sit and ride and watch the world enter and leave until my stop - so obviously, I love the bus pics and the lone apple sitting in the rain!
ReplyDeletebreath taking astonishing photos! I love how you see the world, your perspective and gift! Gorgeous shots always!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know the devil took the crosstown bus! (Second photo down, she has red horns!)
ReplyDeleteClaud: I hadn't noticed - now you mention it.
ReplyDeleteI thought she was just a nice middleaged lady......
Let me join in and sing praises for these atmospheric photos.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast of the bright apple on the grey ground.
Elizabeth...I'm out here in Phoenix, Arizona. My good friend Tom Clohessy sent me a link to your site. I absolutely love your photos. You've captured the essence of your surroundings,a glimpse,a peek in,you're actually seeing things around you that are generally overlooked by most people. There's palpable joy when I see the apple in the puddle of the pink hue in the telephone kiosk pic. I'll stop by often. Best to you. Steve
ReplyDeleteThat looks very much like here in the evening..wet. Must be cold there brrr...and love your new avatar!
ReplyDeleteso fun visiting you E - such rich activity over here...
ReplyDeletexox - eb.
I love these rainy day photos. You boots were soaked all the way through? Ick! It's most unpleasant walking around in sloshy shoes. Squelchy squelchy...
ReplyDeleteI really like your new avatar pic :)
Great photos in the rain, Elizabeth! Sometimes we who live(d)in the city forget about WEATHER.
ReplyDeleteThis picture of the Empire State building is absolutely gorgeous. As all your pix are....
ReplyDeleteYou certainly made something of your soaked-tootsie plight! Bravo!
Oh I love these rainy day pictures!. Especially the apple and the view from the bus.
