Bars

I ought to call this blog Tame New York because nothing ever happens.
The bright colors of the deserted playground contrast well with the snow.

So many things in New York are behind railings and bars. There must be jobs for metal workers. I hear there has been an uptick of people going to welding school.
This playground on 9th Avenue.

And this one between 8th and 9th Avenues in the 20's.

The bus window passing the Post Office Facility on 12th Avenue.

A decorative fire escape and barred window on 25th Street.

Sunday morning. Too early to eat falafels on 8th Avenue.

  1. The graffiti under the fire escape practically matches the curves of the metal.

Doesn't surprise me that vocational schooling is on the rise...does the world need more bankers?

  2. The decorative fire escape photo is my favorite. I can just imagine how cold that metal is in those playgrounds.

  4. You must feel very safe in the city, or maybe a tad claustrophobic? Nice bar shots. Lovely lines.

  6. Lovely idea to photograph various railings - I love the patterns of the shadow, particularly on that little balcony. Super stuff.

  7. Barred. Speaks volumes, doesn't it?

Hehe, never too early for falafels in my book!

  8. So quiet, so cold.

My parents lived in south Texas ( a third world to be sure) behind barred windows, barred patio, barred terrarium. Barred from the street by a large barred fence. It did not make me feel safe, quite the opposite.

Your photos, as always, are beautiful!

  10. Lovely colours in the playground! I love the way the snow is clinging to the tree bark. Is it still very cold?

  14. All of those bars make me feel a bit sad. I liked the primary colors of the jungle gym, though.

  15. Cool photos but how funny. Like D. Moll, the title made me think the post would be about another type of NY bars.

  17. I noticed the graffiti too. Looks like LA.

And I liked the decorative fire escape. Maybe it was one of those iron worker's final journeyman projects.

  18. I love your photos, Elizabeth...they are the sort of photos I'd take; I see things thru your eye very easily. I hope that's not an insult... :)

And yes, you too can have treatments like i'm having...anywhere in India they're the same, just ask wherever you're staying...especially down South, it's prevalent.
