Gallery Hopping

A very cold Saturday afternoon. Icy wind off the Hudson, but a good afternoon to go looking at galleries in Chelsea.

Better yet, our friend Preston Trombly has an opening at The New Century Artists Gallery at 530 West 25th Street. The show is on until January 3rd. As well as painting, Preston is a presenter on Sirius Satellite Radio.

My photos do a pitiful job capturing the exquisite color and textured richness of the pieces and the interplay of reality and shadow. You will have to go to see them in the flesh.
As well as Preston's work, there were other pieces which caught the gallery-goers' attention.

Next door a gallerista ponders his inventory.

We walk home up 25th Street after night has fallen.

The art is so colorful and pretty! I love Chelsea, it is truly one the nicest neighborhoods in New York. Thanks for the photos.

I miss visiting the art galleries and museums. I have in the past spent a fair bit of time in NY and Mass, doing just that. Thanks for the virtual tour, and for visiting my blog. :)

Love the look of that art in the gallery - wish I could pop in and see it. Colour looks saturated and quite thrilling.

Fun ... on the way to meet you we passed a cafe with a man sitting in the window eating a donut.. Husband said: That would make a good blog shot.

Umm, once an editor always an editor

Hello Elizabeth,
Hasn't winter really blown into our City?
Last week, or was it the week before, I made a quick trip over to the Chelsea gallery area to see a show featuring a friend. Of course, by now I have lost the scrap of paper with the note of the address.
All the same, glad I got there before this week's chill set in!
(Still trying to find the quiet hours, along with the pot of tea, to read your book. I just love looking at the cover, and thinking about the story within.)

Crazy busy, dealing with not so much business ... does that make sense?

I always give myself a pat on the back when I venture out in this cold weather and what a better excuse than going to the Chelsea Galleries!

I'm glad that people are still buying art . . . although, come to think of it, you've only implied "hopping" and "looking."

I'm very taken with the name "Preston Trombly."

Christmas in New York last year - best ever! The galleries, book stores, delis, skaters in Central Park......the list goes on. A fairytale.
