Signs of the Season

This is our first Christmas in New York for three years.
good taste
natural
tacky
retro
over the top
You name it; I love it.

Here plastic retro Santas in a messenger bag shop in the West Village.

This  cheerful elephant  arrived in the United Cerebral Palsy lobby on 23rd Street yesterday.

I'm not quite sure that artificial silver trees and buying jeans are my true religion but whatever....Broadway near Unions Square.

Such elegant high heels from Kate Spade and a pretty clutch bag. Such a pink! What parties these will go to.

  4. The other day, I was in a store that sold artificial Christmas trees in green (of course), pink, white, silver, black, blue, and yellow. So whimsical for such a--what I thought--conservative and traditional country!

    Love your photos :-)

& I can see a bit of a self portrait in that wonderful shoe shot too.
    Very nice Elizabeth.

  6. The do-dads are OK but I'm looking past Christmas, past the consumerism frenzy, past getting a January tax statement and I'm anxiously waiting for Spring.

  13. Dearest Elizabeth, Xmas is always a magical time for me..its something about the atmosphere..well, doesnt matter if we have fake Xmas trees or imported real ones, or trees dressed up in cotton to represent snow, it is magical! My mom's Xmas tree is up and the kids are already counting the presents underneath.

  18. Elizabeth- having been a New Yorker my entire life before moving to St. Croix, I had to tell you how nostalgic your beautiful photos make me feel just around the holidays.
For a few minutes, I can gaze and recall the pockets of wonder and creativity that are everywhere.

I visited your Morocco blog- I should run there tomorrow for the colors you've captured. So wonderful and rich, sun drenched.
I need to bookmark you so I can return to the city. ( and continue to live here !)
