Morning, Evening and Night

On the whole, I'm interested in flowers and gardens and poems and cups of tea -- oh dear. A severe shortage of muscle cars and weapon of mass destruction in this blog.

However, Henry takes a great interest in people doing things -- particularly if the things include large machines. So good to see the world through new eyes.

Herewith, a very large mechanical digger about to dig up the gas line.  The chances of being blown up are slight in general, and, in the event, would put my money on Con Ed over terrorists.

Here are lots of men with hardhats and yellow vests and orange cones who are allowed to paint on the street and dig holes in it! Cool possibilities.

Lo and behold! A Mack truck passes by -- a carting truck no less. What more could we wish for?

At this time of year the evening sun's reflects off the Starrett-Lehigh building

and the moon rises next to the Empire State Building.

  1. Lovely post today. Brings back so my memories.
I remember always stopping stopping to look at trucks and any sort of machinery with my older son. We use to drive down to the very pretty train station in San Juan Capistrano, sit outside in the sunshine and watch the trains arrive and depart. He still loves trains and rides them all over Japan when he has the time.

Love the dancing man on the roof in the fourth photo.

    cheers, parsnip

  3. You`ve just described every walk and car journey I have had with Zaki for the last 18 months. What is it about boys and diggers and tractors?? He`s also into dinosaurs now...what is it about boys and dinosaurs?? Lovely post Elizabeth and love the glint of autumnal sun in the penultimate shot. Hope you are well.

  5. Elizabeth, I share that young lad's love of big trucks and intricate machinery...even love hardware stores. They just have so much to study.

And, I agree with you about how the new slant in our New York City daylight lets us see everything in a new way.

  6. Fun to see the world through those new, young eyes. Trucks and constructions (destruction) equipment, big guys with tools. Heh.

Love that evening cityscape. I enjoy your posts whatever your camera and Henry see.
