Day Two: Tappan

A slightly later dawn picture.

Today they repave the street which is fun.
Gooey tar and sprinkled pebbles.

In the back yard, the butterfly bush.

It's only when not in New York that I realize
how frenetic it is there and how much
energy is buzzing and buzzing all around
even when one isn't doing very much at all.
Is unbuzz  word?

  1. "Unbuzz" should exist. You could do a Gerard Manley Hopkins approach and recount your trip in the poetry of necessarily invented words.

  2. Unbuzz, if not a word, should be.

  3. It looks like you arranged the guys in your first pic for a photo shoot! wow!

Yes, unbuzz is definitely a word in my vocabulary.

  4. It always amazes me how different things can be just a couple of hours from home. We drove up into the mountains Saturday and it was 20 degrees cooler! It was most certainly "unbuzzed" and we loved it!

  5. I recently had to get a plumber in to unbuzz the boiler, so yes, it's a word.

  6. I'm living in unbuzz land here! Love the pace of NY but it is fun to get away...takes a bit of time to unwind from the frenetic buzz.

  7. Unbuzz seems like a good word to me...since I live in the country/woods...I find that I need to rebuzz several times a year...either in Philadelphia or preferably in NYC

  8. Yes, I always notice the difference when I return to Ventura Co after a few days in Los Angeles. I take a few days to unbuzz.

I believe you have just created a new vocabulary word.

  9. Old Tappan is beautiful. Is that the source of the name of the Tappan Zee bridge. Best bridge name in the world, other than (perhaps) the Lefty O'Doull bridge in San Francisco.

  10. hi elizabeth, if a word doesn't exist to describe something then it will clamour for someone to speak it and then it becomes part of the common lexicon. that's what i figure. there are so many spaces between noise and silence - like the long list of inuit words for the many forms of snow, and here a little further south - the many forms of rain. "unbuzz". i like that feeling. a full house empties. a gas-powered lawnmower stops. three in the morning by a highway. steven

  11. I've got that buddleia - the one with the orange eye - it has such a fantastic perfume.

Glad you are enjoying the peace and quiet

  13. Dexter unbuzzed a yellow jacket with his might teeth after the horrid thing stung Dexters foot. So, yes, unbuzz is a word...
I spoke with a young lad yesterday who is now based in NYC- he has been there for ten years and said that for him the city has become smaller , more comfortable - a very good home. Different strokes I guess- I must say that YOUR NYC is most appealing through your photos of wandering about town- even though Dexter and I are country bumps we might find comfort there...

  15. Love those dawn photos...so wonderful with the early slanting sunlight, all golden and beautiful.

I've been unbuzzing ever since I retired two years ago....it makes a real difference in one's life.

  16. I always loved the butterfly bush - whenever I had a garden I had to have one! Abuzz with butterflies come September?

  19. It's nice to have a mix of what is buzzy and what is not. London is just the same, isn't it? It revs me up, but then I feel like I unfurl and breathe again when I get back into the country.

Lots of white buddleia in the Lake District.

  20. Unbuzz must be a word,
otherwise, what is it that I am doing this very moment? Goofing off after a long day that started at 5am? No, definitely unbuzzing right now. *buzzzzz*

  21. I like this blog template better and I like the user friendliness of blogger...just saying..
Love your new one but it seems a bit less cuddly. Not that it matters because whatever you do is brilliant - I do like this one better.
