What a hideous old radiator. What messy scraps of paper on it.
The morning light makes it tolerable.
Isabel and I take pictures of the best recent piece
of public art in New York. So many squares.
Later we go to a notions shop in my least favorite part of town.
The ribbons made me want to turn into
the sort of person who does crafts all the time.
I love this color and this one, and what about that one?
Such goggle-eyed greed.
For lots of other ShadowShots go here.
Love the windows and that notions shop must be fun. I enjoy textiles and need to check out a shop with ribbons, but there may not be so many around anymore.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly DO know how to re-create a radiator.
ReplyDeleteYou and Isabel taking photos in New York together? I love the thought of it. I'm thinking you should pick up some of those beautiful ribbons and give it a go.
I also think it's time to plan a day in NYC.

Yes Elizabeth, it is easy to get carried away when visiting that kind of shop - I have a study full of ribbon, buttons and threads to prove it!
ReplyDeletehi elizabeth, i love going into shops that have shades of things. multiplicity . . . an abundance. the spectrum broken into the tiniest pieces. nice pictures. have a lovely day. steven
ReplyDeleteNifty assortment of shadows in NYC. Methinks the second is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
That blue window installation by Spencer Finch is gorgeous.
ReplyDeletelovely shadows, i think the second photo is my favourite...
ReplyDeleteloved the shot of your least favorite part of the city - the colors and squares looking at squares - nice
ReplyDeleteThose ribbons are lovely!!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully delineated shadows, Elizabeth – and I rather like that radiator cover. Radiators are normally not very pretty. Square hues of one colour and ribbons of blue - gorgeous. (The rows and rows of paint colours in art shops are my downfall – I want them ALL.) I do like the colours in your unfavourite part of town as well…even the cars are bright and breezy.
ReplyDeleteNice 'tie in' to the High Line windows
ReplyDeleteGreat images! I love to fondle ribbons in those sorts of stores. While many quilters incorporate ribbons and other doo-dads into their work, I haven't found a way yet. My big weakness is threads!
ReplyDeleteAs always great pics....Barb
ReplyDeleteI go positively nuts in a ribbon store. My favourite is VV Rouleaux in London. Have you ever shopped there? Pure ribbon heaven!
ReplyDeleteInteresting shops and beautiful ribbons! Sometimes shops are so inviting that I want to buy the things around me, but when I get home I don't know what to do with them and give them away. Nice photos, Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice thoughts of taking some photos in the old radiator. Who cares if scraps of papers layin on there?
ReplyDeleteIt gave you a very nice and shabby shot though. Like that way. Impulse!
cheers...
Ribbon does that, I have boxes of it and no idea what to do with it. I avoid those shops now.
ReplyDeleteI do like that big window.
Mmm, I love ribbon, too. And buttons.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading about Salvador Dali and he once painted tromp de l'oeil covers of radiators . . . to cover the unsightly radiators which his wife disliked.
When something’s ugly
ReplyDeletelight and shadow can transform
gross to beautiful.
My Shadow Shots
I love all the colored squares!!
ReplyDeleteSomething about sunlight sliding across a hardwood floor that is relaxing and comforting.
ReplyDeleteWell-captured shadows. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe ribbons look like fun.

When I stayed at an aunt house in Australia years ago, the first thing I was fascinated was the radiator..we never have them here, obviously due to the hot weather but we've got tons of hideous air condition outside every building and house. Have a great week ahead/hugs..........M
ReplyDeleteI know that coming over to your blog there will always be a feast for my eyes! I've been fully satisfied today!
ReplyDeleteI really like the messy radiator shadow shot! Hope you had a wonderful weekend :)
ReplyDeleteYour shadows are so playful this week, Elizabeth! Those windows are shiny like candy... And those ribbons are calling my name too. I never met a ribbon I didn't like. ;o) Happy week, my friend ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteWhat is your least favorite part of town?
ReplyDeleteI must be the only person in the world that does not know what a notions shop is. Help! I'm a philistine!
ReplyDeleteThe ribbons are inspirational for anyone, and the windows - just fabulous. Your colour sense is stunning.
Dear Reya
ReplyDeleteMidtown. It is tacky and awful --though one can find hidden delights even there.....
"...The morning light makes it tolerable..." No, it makes it cute! Lovely photo and shaddows. I love shaddowpics!
ReplyDeleteIt is always a pleasure to explore the city with you, my dear Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteWell...lets not forget Buster! I sent Cat some of the photos I took of Buster..eating grass and eating ice...She officially wants to adopt him ;)
So many squares was just an amazing image!! Gorgeous!!
ReplyDelete*smile*
ReplyDeleteI have to get a lavender coloured ribbon for my dried lavender. ;-)
