Indulgence

Thinking about all the delicious fruit yesterday revived sense memories of my recent trip to London.
If you only had to go to one shop - and didn't need to buy anything, I would recommend Liberty's. It's visual heaven, verging on too much.
I worked there one summer many moons ago before they had crystal threads hanging down all over the place.

Since I'm a very greedy person, I decided to have tea. The tea shop red and warm. Such cakes!

And scones with clotted cream and raspberry jam. Hot chocolate too.
I consumed a zillion calories and it was bliss.

For shoe fetishists who are also chocoholics, this is obviously the place to go.
Luckily, I am neither.

Upstairs there were lots of cushions with peacocks on. I would have liked to buy all of them to send to Maryam. Except the price would have matched the current bank bailout.

  4. LOVE the chocolate shoes!

I've heard that clotted cream tastes sort of like spit-up. How is it?

    Thanks for sharing!

  5. Oh, indulgences, yes, these imagines alone are indulgences, just to look at these precious things, clotted cream on scones, oh my, I swoon. I shall have sweet dreams tonight, that I am sure off! Thank you for this nice respite on a busy day. :-)

How much do these peacock cushions actually cost? I have a friend who would love them.

  10. Good Morning, America! :-)
I had to drop in and look at the scones, while having my coffee break.

GMA, gosh, I remember Joan Lunden,
but the name of her co-host escapes me. ;-)

  12. I recognized the chanelier at Liberty in the photo before I read your post! Oh yes, tea at Liberty is an indulgence, one I would be happy to repeat often!

I was thinking of you this morning as my students were listening to a book on tape-- a story about a magic porridge pot.

  14. Oh, I love Liberty's! I've never had tea there, though -- an oversight that I will have to see to post haste. The clotted cream on that scone looked incredibly luscious.
