Shadow Shot Sunday/

This almost Halloweeny image was shot in an uncleaned-up doorway in the nowadays rather upmarket Meatpacking district.
I'm not quite sure what it is.

No one looks cheerful on the cross town bus - even though there are charming reflections on the ceiling.

I honestly can't remember where this is probably somewhere between 7th and 6th Avenue - but it could be anywhere on a sunny morning.

The sun hits an entryway and casts a purple tinge on the floor.

  1. Oh my, those folk on the bus don't look very happy at all! Maybe they are on their way to work? I sometimes look like that in the mornings on my way to work ;)

That first photo is so cool. I don't know what it is & I don't care that you don't know what it is, but what it is is cool. Did that make sense? Possibly not. It's very late in the evening here. Almost Monday now. Bedtime methinks! Enjoy your Sunday :)

I like the small hand print and the blurry type of shadow. very nice.
That dress in your previous post is quite nice too.

  3. These photographs are lovely - they are the complete antithesis of my countryside ones - that is why I enjoy looking at them!

  5. I actually am entranced by the last shot-the shadows and purple shading. I appreciate your photographic 'eye', seeing beauty where other people would only see graffiti.

  7. Like the shadows and lighting of the last two shots. Good eye to catch that last one Elizabeth.
It's true no one seems to smile anymore on buses or in stores - it's almost as if life is such a burden...

  9. Public transport always brings out the stoic in people. I've noticed that in cities around the world, people simply just go somewhere inside themselves en route to someplace else.

  10. One of the biggest disappointments of my life was the glum attitude of people on the Paris subway!! I'd imagined them all with roses between their teeth looking romantic!

  15. Hey! That's me on the bus! Just kidding :)

There really IS something rather mystical about that first picture - maybe it's the hand print :)

Great SSS! Thanks for sharing your city pictures.
