More of the Same...

Still cold - well,  it's winter.
But so cold you don't want to go out and do anything, and assume your friends don't want to do anything either...so you stay home and think of all the things you could be doing...

People tramp around being miserable...

and try to cover up every inch of skin. I want a ski mask so I can dress up as a bank robber...

Pinwheel Park is deserted.

Citrus fruit looks extra zingy

and can be photographed at home.

We went to Long Island on Monday when it rained and rained and the garden became a giant puddle but the snow and ice lingered...
Not much snow left today but only 24 degrees F at almost eleven in the morning.
However, we could be somewhere where it is minus whatever....so I'd better stop complaining!

  1. My goodness, Elizabeth, winter has you in its embrace, earnestly!
The first image evokes reminds me of an Alfred Stieglitz photograph and I love how you evoke dreams of the Land, wo die Zitronen blühen (the country, where the lemons blossom - to which Johann Strauss composed a waltz ;-) ). It's interesting how citrus fruits are at their peak when the north is covered by ice and snow.
    Stay warm,
    hugs,
    Merisi

  4. You are so right about the weather, Elizabeth. It's really very pleasant to venture outdoors. I've been trying to continue some new year's de-accessioning certain items that have been occupying space in my apartment. It's a short-ish walk to my neighborhood thrift shop, so I can quickly act on my decluttering impulse before I lose my resolve.

This is a season in which one proves one's love for one's dogs. Bravo to you all for your love and devotion on those walks.

I like the photographs in this post very much, and can vouch for those city views that really do show what it's been like about New York. The sliced lemon still life is a dramatic beauty!

Hoping for better weather and the opportunity to see you.

  9. Beautiful images of the cold - it's going to be unseasonally cold here the next few days going sub zero during the night in some places.
