It was almost dark but the camera, which plays tricks, detected some blue in the sky still.
The lovely, elegant, iconic Empire State Building will probably shortly
be obscured by some very tall, not very interesting building.
Looking south from the roof. The Port Authority Building looks
a bit like a great big cruise ship anchored in Chelsea.
Great excitement later in the evening. It looks as if the firetruck
is ablaze, but in fact, the flashes are just tricks of the camera.
Ah, lovely twilight in New York. I miss the city, particularly in the fall.
ReplyDeleteYour Twilight photos were Beautiful !
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the possibility of a larger building going up is idiotic and blocking such a perfect view.
Twilight is my favorite time of day.
The Time between Dog and Wolf in Vietnamese and of course L'Heure Bleue
I have always wanted to try that fragrance, just because it sounds so lovely.
Beautiful post
cheers, parsnip
What wonderful views. I think I would spend hours up there just watching the world go by!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. And, yes, a splendid view. I hope you're wrong about it being ruined by some developer with dollar signs in his/her eyes. Hope the fire department guys were just out for exercise and not an emergency.
ReplyDeleteit is weird how the camera plays them tricks...took some pictures of the moon last night, i have no idea where all that light came from!
ReplyDeleteheard about the other tall building the other day, sad. but your empire looks great, at least for now.
Violet skies.
ReplyDeleteLike Elizabeth Taylor's eyes.
The Port Authority building really does look like a ship. Your photos have inspired me to go out take some of my own tonight.
ReplyDeleteHow sad to think that your view of the Empire State Building might be blocked. Enjoy while you can
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely shots at twilight!
ReplyDeleteThe Mayor just doesn't seem to look beyond the need to make money in his mission to build, yet NYC seems to be in debt because of it. Even the group of buildings planned for Ground Zero do not impress with architectural interest!
ReplyDeleteelectrifying images, shame about the new building blocking the view in the future.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sending me details of your writing course, it sounds wonderful and very inspiring.
Never been to New York, but I love your pictures:)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Norway.
tks for your regular blogging about NYC .. i love to look
ReplyDeletewhat a great view from your roof
I like the tricks your camera plays!
ReplyDeleteDazzling pictures Elizabeth. The camera is not playing any tricks. The camera is just a tool and you are the brain behind it. The timing is perfect. You got all the details in light fading fast. i love the fire truck picture
ReplyDeletehow lovely to see your pictures and dip into my past!!
ReplyDeleteYes the fire truck makes an interesting picture. Liked Empire State lit up and memories of being up there when it was the tallest in NYC.
ReplyDeletethat last image reminds me of Rescue Me...lovely first images
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, having someting monumental and nostalgic at the same time
