Such a different part of town than our usual Chelsea.
At eight o'clock lots of people wandering around
looking at the shop windows
and the hot dog stands and the people selling light-up glasses
Fire Department people heading to Central Park
and the mounted police out in force.
We look down on 5th Avenue
and down 56th Street.
Tomorrow we expect a snow storm.
Here's hoping 2014 is wonderful.
Exciting photos !
ReplyDeleteI think in a huge city a snow storm is not always welcome but I feel like it means good luck, besides being beautiful.
Today in Tucson we have blue skies and temps at 70. Sounds lovely but this is the start of our winter rainy season and we need the rain for the spring and summer months.
Happy Happy New Year !
cheers, parsnip
Love how you capture the atmosphere of your city!
ReplyDeleteThe image with the mounted police patrolling the steets, with the building in the background decorated with wreaths in all the windows, somehow appears to reflect what in my experience New York City really is: a collection of small neighborhoods, with people caring about each other, the grocer greeting you, the doorman, too, as you walk by, a kind stranger giving you not only directions, but accompanying all the way to the next intersection, lest you get lost again.
Hope you all stay safe during the snowstorm, and the power stays on!
Hugs,
Merisi
P.S:: We had an incredibly lovely sunshinny day, the meadows of the Vienna Woods almost as green as if spring's around the corner. No doubt, those crazy hopes will be dashed, rather sooner than later. February's weather tends to be like the East Coasts, President's Day rolling around and the big snowstorms in, like clockwork. ;-)
Best wishes for a great 2014, Elizabeth. Thanks for sending along the view from your part of the world.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and it brought back such wonderful memories of Manhattan for us.Hope you have a wonderful 2014!
ReplyDeleteWishing you all good things for the new year. And the same for Buster!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you all. It is stormy here and wet but no snow - that would be the last straw. Hope your snow is not too bad.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Love your photos and look forward to more when Manhattan is blanketed by snow.Hugs to Buster
ReplyDeleteWhat great shots Elizabeth. My favourite is the one down 5th Avenue - brilliant. Happy New Year. x
ReplyDelete... and I so miss New York atthis time of the year. Perhaps my most adventurous new year's eve has been the eve of 2009.. when I was one of the thousands who had gathered at Times Square on a frigid December night to see the ball be dropped by Bill & Hill! A very happy new year!
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy New Year!
