An Afternoon Walk

Still waiting for Irene to arrive.

The corner diner is still open with the windows taped.

Only a few lemons left at the deli and the cat not really wanting to part with them either.

The vegetarian restaurant on 9th Avenue is taking this pretty seriously.

So is the nail parlor.

A glimpse of things to come......

and a parting view of the diner.

  2. Glad to see your neighbors have the lemons in for the G&Ts or perhaps for gimlets or something. Does that tape actually do anything when up against a hurricane? In all seriousness, I love seeing your photos but I want you to stay indoors when she arrives...don`t start going all reportage on us and running out to get snaps for the blog!

  3. My, oh my, your part of the world looks scary on the weather map right now. Irene is going to eat the northeast coast for breakfast. Stay safe.

  4. Elizabeth, isn't this Irene vigil an interesting time? Once we got official word that the shop would be closed today and tomorrow, I felt such relaxation.

Been enjoying this unexpected free time by working on various projects, reading, napping talking with friends, watching the sky and tv news coverage.

Let's hope that Irene doesn't harm us too much.

  7. I heard taping the windows doesn't work but maybe that was for a direct hit from the hurricane....
Keep safe.... the waiting must be nerve racking.

    cheers, parsnip
