The wisterias and the lilacs when seen in the city these days are breathtaking. And I love the one about the birthday ballon that merges so well with the scene it is almost invisible!
I saw wisteria like that in Paris once...just amazing.
I enlarged both photos for a better look and tried to read the URL on the end of the plastic bag the lady is carrying in her hand...and I always wonder if people we take photos of ever run across themselves out there in Cyberspace...like the girl in the white slacks in your photo.
Wisteria and birthdays - what could be more astounding and cheerful? Lovely captures, Elizabeth. Your blog always makes me feel like doing a little dance!
How in the world did that wisteria climb so high? Magical . . . and it cheers me to think that we gaze upon the same flowers right now (despite the vast difference in our landscapes!).
A birthday with something secret in her Duane Reede Bag! Ah the wisteria! I long to have that growing on the front porch of some cottage I own someday. Saw it all over when in New Zealand and was enchanted by it......
So spring has sprung in full force in New York City! I am so happy to get glimpses of it, thanks to you and Frances and Carol! The lady crossing the street with the wrapped cake or pastries reminds me of Rome. Scenes likes this can be seen all over Rome on Sunday mornings. Everyone seems to be on the way to lunch with family or friends, carrying wrapped up pastries from their favorite pasticceria (from my experience, Romans generally don't bake, but they know where the best sweet morsels can be found).
Astounding...and sweet.
ReplyDeleteYay, Spring!

How do you know that the lady is celebrating a birthday?
ReplyDeleteThat wisteria is magnificent! It makes my little newly planted one look so puny.
ReplyDeleteAh I love how wisteria does let the bricks and mortar of the city stop it.
ReplyDeleteDear FF
ReplyDeletebecause it says "Happy Birthday" on the balloon...!
The balloon also had a candle on it but it got cut off.
Gorgeous wisteria!

I'm so unobservant I didn't even notice the balloon, Elizabeth. See - that's why you are a brilliant photographer and I'm not :)

ReplyDeleteGreat wisteria! Love what it does to the building facade and it reminds me of Portugal.
