Tuesday evening on 5th Avenue where I had gone to hear a talk by Susan Isaacs at the Fiction Center -- except that when we got there we discovered we had got the wrong night. So we looked at all the lights instead.
So tall and white and bold.
Saks had lovely windows of children creating patterns with light -- and their clothes look comfortable and charming at the same time.
Is that a relative of Buster's beneath the tree?
Ah, the magic of snow globes to shake and shake!
Lots of people around, therefore lots of police. A most elegant horse.
The building is belted in glitter with icicles falling....
And something like trees maybe heading upwards.....
So much to look at and take photos of.....
like these snooty ice maidens in the windows of Bergdorf Goodman
with their slightly wistful friend
in some mysterious performance
where peacocks abound
and almost drown me in feathers.
Sorry but I am so glad you got the wrong night. It was wonderful looking at the 5th avenue store windows and the activity on the streets. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for taking me on this walk. So beautiful! I miss walking in a big city downtown and looking at the Christmas windows. Reminds me of my childhood in Chicago. Fallbrook is too tiny to have many Christmas windows.

Well that little glitch didn't stop you from enjoying your night out, smart girl.
ReplyDelete& I love snow globes! & the peacocks, so delightful.
Gorgeous!! One thing I miss about living in Connecticut is being able to make a quick trip into the city to see it at Christmas. NYC does the holidays right!
ReplyDeleteFestive glamour or what! Thank you - it's another world from here.
ReplyDeleteAlways something a little disconcerting about mannequins for me though. Possibly watched too many Dr. Whos.
Wow!

Happy St. Nicolaus Day!
ReplyDeleteLovely pix!!!
I also think the clothes of the kids look comfortable and charming; a bit Noa Noa style, which is great!
We are having lots of snow right now; maybe it remains untill Christmas?!!?

They're stunning Elizabeth! All those feathers! It almost makes me miss living in a city....
ReplyDeleteWhere peacocks abound! Such magic enchantment!!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! It's been years and years since the department stores with the great windows closed down around here. They all moved into malls outside of town. It's just not the same.....This post brought back some really good memories of hopping a bus into the city and just walking around to see the lights and sights before Christmas. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! They have started to make me come over all Christmassy!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous windows! I LOVE NYC at Christmas time, so much to look at.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got the wrong night as I so enjoyed the lights and decorations in the city. Amazing feathers.
