Sky

A very bright blue sky with rather a cold wind.

59th Street Bridge

Last night a full, brilliant moon. So difficult to capture with a point and shoot camera -- but that doesn't mean I don't try

Caffe Roma

I don't think there is anything in New York to compare with the sorts of coffee shops and cafes Merisi  shows us in Vienna but Mulberry Street in Little Italy has Caffe Roma.....

.....where we wandered on Saturday night....

...and looked at all the canoli and biscotti and Napoleans...

This is what I ate.

Earth Day from Philadelphia

I took a trip to Philadelphia on the Bolt Bus ($8!) where I looked at a large number of things....
here cherry blossoms on an old grave....

...fruit blossoms in Harleysville

a little creek in the same place

A glorious sunny day
so feeling 'in the pink'

Red Day

As I was on 8th Avenue at lunch time, it suddenly came to me that it was a red day,
which is counter-intuitive since red isn't a very spring color.

Everywhere I looked people were wearing red. By Dallas Barbecue...

.... by the subway.

Even the fire hydrant had a shiny new coat of red paint.

The lone tulip in the pachysandra was red....

as were last fall's berries reluctant to concede the new year's arrival.

Paperazzi

All things considered, I'm glad that I'm not famous. Imagine what it would be like having this collection of people on the opposite side of the road from your house. They all have very fancy cameras with lots and lots of cool lenses and are quite chatty as I walk past on my way to the dog run.  They hang about trying to conceal themselves behind much too skinny trees.....

Really not a profession to be much admired. All I need to know is what sort of lenses they have and if I could ever learn to use one.

Empire Diner

I walk past the Empire Diner every day on the way to the dog run. The other week it was on the cover of the New Yorker. It looks amazingly cool, but the food is only so-so.
You can see from all the reflections that there is construction opposite....
Well, there seems to be construction everywhere.

Spring at Last

Warm enough to drag the leather sofa outside  and to sit in the sun in a short sleeved shirt.
Cell phone a necessary accessory.

White blossoms and bare branches at the same time
any moment the leaves will unfurl.
